So this is me
I am a tech head, no doubt about that. My friends would call me a big geek, but only after they have me fix their whatever it is. I can fix an iPod by dropping it on the floor. My dad is a farmer and these days I think he doesn’t know what I’m talking about half the time. My favorite music video is Weezer’s “Pork and Beans.”
I started this site to ramble sweet nothings into my little corner of the Internet, but soon I found that I may have something to contribute. NERDFACE contains handy, sometimes MacGyver-esque tricks I’ve picked up while working in the web development and graphic design world. Also, there are some things that are relevant to other grown-up geeks like myself.
What I’m doing with my life
In the School of Life, I am a double major in web development and music, with a double minor in photography and graphic design. I didn’t finish school. I barely started it before getting recruited into the job market. All I know is so far I’m killing it so far, and from here it’s my own business with my geek network of pros ready to do some damage. So far so good!
I’m really good at
Picking places to eat, parallel parking, making people laugh, and looking surprised even when I’m not really because I sort of found out ahead of time (by accident, of course.)
I think I can write half-decently… I fancy myself something of a musician too. Probably evidenced by the keyboard and 7 guitars in this room. (Okay, 3 are for Guitar Hero. So what.) I’ve been playing a lot of softball and racquetball with some running sprinkled in here and there. Just took up disc golf, for a more mellow afternoon.
I like to skate around, and take photos. If you’ve ever seen a skater with a tripod strapped to his back around Minneapolis, that might be me. If you’ve ever hit a skater with a tripod on his back with your van in Minneapolis, please message me.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I’m really into mental_floss’s History of the World right now. World history actually comes up a LOT in other thought processes. I am sort of ADD when it comes to books – I have a whole bunch that I am about 3/4ths the way through. Then I see another one and need to start it NOW.
I used to be in a punk rock band. I plan to start another one sometime soon… more rock/metal based. I can sing along comfortably with Five Finger Death Punch or Killswitch Engage, which is kinda a nice skill to have. I listen to all kinds of music though – my favorite is some kind of classical fusion ala Bond or Myleene Klass. (Surprise!?)
My favorite foods are Chinese, Italian, and particular items from Trader Joe’s. I’m getting more into wine, but that’s been a long process so far. I have had no expert training but I recognize the value. Sake is my drink of choice.
There are few things in life I find more satisfying than Trader Joe’s British Muffins (plain) with peanut butter (Skippy, creamy) and sliced bananas on them. If I get this… I win.
