Apple RAW Update 2.6 supports Canon T1i

You can finally take your camera off of RAW + JPEG… released June 4th: Apple RAW Update 2.6 supports these cameras:

  • Canon EOS 500D
  • Canon Rebel T1i
  • Canon EOS Kiss Digital X3
  • Nikon D5000
  • Olympus E-30

So, the update supports the Canon T1i *3 ways*. Details here. Run Software Update!

UPDATE: when I ran the software update, I expected that suddenly all of my images would be viewable in Aperture. It’s not the case though, right away. What you’ll get is a bunch of small previews the size of the above “Unrecognized Image Format” window. After a couple hours of futzing around, I found out that you have to select all of the images that you took with the T1i and select “Migrate Images”. It’s not what I thought it was… it will migrate your RAW images to the latest RAW processor.

The easiest way I found to do this is to create a Smart Album. Just type T1i in the first box on top and it will find all of the T1i images you took. Then highlight them all in the Browser and select Migrate Images. Go play some Xbox for awhile, because it’ll take awhile depending on how many photos you have. After that, you should be golden.
