Vietnam Wall Memorial, originally uploaded by stgermaniac.

I got a new domain for photo work! I happened upon this domain at just the right time in order to get a hold of it. Yesterday it finally came into my possession. Of course, I didn’t have a design ready.

I’ve dabbled with photography for a number of years, but it started getting serious with this photo.

The event was in my hometown. I used my old Canon Digital Rebel and a fisheye lens to take 15 photos of the scene. Using Photoshop, I stitched them together after doing some HDR (high dynamic range) tone mapping. The result was absolutely stunning – and even better printed on silver paper. I donated a 30″ framed print to the American Legion on Christmas. It was very a very gratifying experience – it made me feel very much like a part of the community.

After the ceremony, I was asked for smaller prints – which I was completely unprepared for. So I ended up coming away with far more than what it cost for the donation – and that is all going toward a new camera. Then I can fill up a photography site!
