Those that know me have probably heard me playing an instrument at some point. Sometimes I find myself dinking at the keyboard, not with any particular goal in mind… just venting. Some people have suggested that I should record these sessions and make them available.
I’ve always been hesitant, but I thought I’d give it a try and see what people think. Sometimes it’s just piano, sometimes it’s a sequenced piece. Not limited to any particular style of music. Almost never polished, and always done inside of a couple hours, and I’m usually either a wreck or feeling much better after doing it. Sometimes what I’m feeling comes through, sometimes not… but it’s a look inside.
Often, you’d hear familiar songs embedded throughout – they tend to get worked in and I’ll try to address that when they are there. It’s essentially a dump of whatever comes through my hands at that time.
This first one done tonight is a fairly short one about friends lost – and the scratchy, chaotic emotions that come with it. Most of the time you learn to live with the fact that they’re gone and you try to live normally. From time to time, they reenter your heart and your world can crash all over again for a few moments before you can pick up and continue living in harmony with the chaos.
I’ve linked to the song it’s based on below, because while I can hear the words in my head as I’m putting this down, the context might be lost on those who aren’t familiar with the original song. It’s a good one… buy it. :)
So begins the experiment – I hope you enjoy yourselves – and please feel free to make comments. Actually, please do.
